This year, three student clubs/organizations have been selected to present their ask to the Washington College community. These groups are competing for a total number of donations. The project with the most individual donations will receive $1,000, followed by $500 and $250 for 2nd and 3rd, respectively.

This year, those three projects are:

    Alpha Omicron Pi (AOII)

Alpha Omicron Pi is a women's sorority at Washington College. Our values promote character, dignity, scholarship, and college loyalty. We hold events on campus to raise money in support of the National Juvenile Arthritis Foundation.

AOII plans to hold a wellness day for students in the spring semester. Students can choose to attend a yoga session led by a Slack Tide Yoga instructor or enjoy a journaling session with guided writing and meditation, courtesy of the Counseling Center. This event will take place around spring midterms when students are feeling particularly stressed and overwhelmed!

    The Arts and Crafts Club

The Arts & Crafts Club is a brand-new club on campus that hosts well-attended and community-building creative crafting nights, such as linocut, medieval princess hat making, and friendship bracelets. A&CC is represented by our beloved mascot, Leon the Lionfish.

The Arts & Crafts Club (A&CC) wants to transform the area outside of the Student Engagement Office into an accessible Art Station for the Washington College community. The A&CC would purchase basic art supplies for students to use in the new Art Station, and create a catalogue of existing materials and scheduled upkeep of the Art Station by the A&CC. Having the Art Station would inspire the creation of individual art projects as well as collaboration between Student Affairs, Res-Life, clubs, and the Art Department.

    Fetching Freedom

Fetching Freedom is a student-run club on campus, partnering with the non-profit organization Fidos for Freedom in Laurel, MD. Student puppy raisers and sitters are paired with dogs in training from 8-12 weeks old through about a year old, to prepare them to work with individuals with disabilities and aid their independence as certified service dogs.

This Fall marks our club's 5th anniversary, and we would love to give back to Fidos For Freedom, our parent organization, to cover the $ 2,500 training program fee. We are looking to sponsor Koa, our current service dog-in-training, to provide an individual with a chance to regain their independence. The money will not only help our parent organization advance its mission but also continue student involvement and support on campus.
