One of the hallmarks of our Washington College is experiential learning, demonstrated beautifully through our three signature centers. Today, we offer up a friendly competition between:
- The Center for Environment and Society (CES)
Through experiential learning, community and civic engagement, and research, CES prepares undergraduates to solve the most pressing issues facing the future of our planet and its people.
- The Rose O'Neill Literary House
Besides being a popular student hangout spot and place to catch readings by Pultitzer prizewinning writers, the Rose O'Neill Literary House has, since 1970, been the campus's literary hub for writers and writing. We offer over 100 learning opportunities and, through our Light of Day Internship Program, pair students with national literary presses and nonprofits.
- The Starr Center for the Study of American Experience
Washington College’s Starr Center explores the American experience in all its diversity and complexity, seeks creative approaches to illuminating the past, and inspires thoughtful conversation informed by history.
Donate to the center of your choosing and watch the leaderboard change. It’s donors, not dollars, that drive the competition. Each Center has a match from a generous donor, so your gift is matched up to a certain amount. The competition is friendly, but the programming, civic engagement, and student impact are serious.
Three centers, one Washington College... but only one winner too!
