Doing good in the community and beyond is part of the Washington College experience. Explore a few of the ways our campus has made a difference in the highlights below. And today, we're saying thank you! The first 50 donors who make a gift of $25 or more on Monday, December 8, will receive a special gift mailed to them as a token of our appreciation!
- Over the summer, students donated unused Dining Dollars to purchase food for Kent County non-profits.
- Justin Looper ’26 led an initiative to bring over 700 square feet of Feather Friendly bird-collision deterrent stickers to Washington College, with help from the Natural Lands Project and the Bird Club.
- The College launched a campus food recovery program in response to SNAP cuts.
- Alpha Omicron Pi (AOII) has raised over $3,000 for their two philanthropies, the National Arthritis Foundation and The Jasmine Queen Memorial Scholarship.
- Phi Delta Theta (ΦΔΘ) estimates that they will be able to submit a donation to the Packard Center for ALS Research of approximately $5000.
- Kappa Sigma (ΚΣ) has raised just over $9,200 for Kappa Sigma's Miliary Heroes Campaign this year. They raised this money with their semesterly Pancake Breakfast, as well as a 24-hour Minecraft livestreaming event. This semester they achieved personal best records for Pancake Breakfast tickets sold, with 537!
- Zeta Tau Alpha (ZTA) has raised approximately $6,845 between their two main fundraisers, Queso for a Cure and Big Man on Campus. Big Man alone raised about $6000! All proceeds for these events benefit the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation to support scholarships, educational programming, leadership development, and their fight against breast cancer!
