Join us at The Egg at Washington College for a special multimedia presentation exploring the music, life, and impact of American icon Louis Armstrong. Enjoy a delicious New Orleans-themed catered dinner while immersing yourself in the music of this legendary figure, presented by acclaimed trumpeter and educator Dave Robinson. Known for his passion for early jazz and swing, Dave brings a wealth of experience from the stage and the classroom—along with a deep love for the culture and sounds of New Orleans.
Following dinner, Dave will guide us on a deep dive into Louis Armstrong and his contributions to American music. More than half a century after his passing, Armstrong's music continues to be played around the world. How did a young man born into poverty in New Orleans change the course of American music? Through audio and video examples, participants will gain an appreciation of the contributions of this musical trailblazer.
A former jazz adjunct faculty member at George Mason University, and currently host of WKHS-FM’s "Jazz Gumbo", Dave’s enthusiasm is infectious and his storytelling unforgettable.
