Kenneth Kozel joined UM Shore Regional Health in October 2011 as President and Chief Executive Officer. Kozel is a proven leader with an extensive background in creating integrated health care delivery systems, building and managing collaborative teams, achieving strategic objectives and strengthening cultures. He brings extensive expertise in strategic, fiscal, operational, and programmatic planning to support the mission and vision of UM SRH and UMMS.
Prior to assuming the leadership of UM SRH, Kozel served Upper Chesapeake Health for 14 years. During his tenure with UCH he served in a variety of executive positions from SVP and Chief Operating Officer, to EVP and System COO, to president overseeing operations of Harford Memorial Hospital and Upper Chesapeake Medical Center. Earlier in his career Kozel held several management positions at Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he served the Baltimore community for 10 years.
Kozel completed his Bachelor of Science at the University of Maryland and his Master of Science and Master of Business Administration from Johns Hopkins University. He is recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, served as a member of the American Hospital Association’s Rural Health Services Committee and member of the Maryland Hospital Association’s Executive Committee.
