The 1782 Society is the College’s premier giving recognition society, with five annual gift levels ranging from $1,500 to $25,000 or more. Its primary role is to support the College’s mission of offering a truly personalized education for every student. Unrestricted gifts at 1782 Society levels support The Washington Fund, an annual revenue source that enables the College to direct money to scholarships and other high priorities. Gifts to The Washington Fund provide the budgetary relief necessary to serve students who might not otherwise be able to attend Washington College. These annual scholarships remain the most pressing need for our students within The Washington Fund.
The late Al Decker H'97, a Maryland philanthropist who left his mark at Washington College, encouraged fellow donors “not to give until it hurts, but to give until it feels good.” He established the highest level of annual giving for the good of the order in 1984.
Gifts to The Washington Fund at these leadership levels provide the College with the flexibility to address our greatest needs.
